“I like to get a sense of the homeowners' personalities and passions, their favorite artists and beloved places,” says Amy. “Then I can create a design that is a meaningful expression of their personality.” Her goal for each property is that it mingle peacefully with the architecture of the house and its surrounding neighborhood, while meeting the functional needs of the homeowners and enahncing the sustainability of the environment. She sees the landscape as a living, breathing, changing work of art, and as an oasis for the soul. For 15 years she has created many landscapes, from seaside properties along the South Shore of Boston to city gardens in Minneapolis, from a formal garden for Garrison Keillor in Minnesota to a tropical pool-side oasis in Florida. Before graduating from the Landscape Institute of Harvard University at the Arnold Arboretum in 2003, she voraciously studied horticulture and art. Since her earlier career as a family therapist, Amy has been creating gardens and renovating old houses, as well as getting inspiration from travels to the great gardens and museums of the U.S., England, France, Holland and Japan.
